A Better Deal for Third World Producers

About EMBRACES Comercio JustoEMBRACES Comercio Justo

EMBRACES Comercio Justo is operated side by side with our other business Scrapbooks Paper and Things which was established in 2004. As a family owned Scrapbook Store we have a hard earned and jealously guarded reputation for our dedicated customer service. Our Fairtrade customers at Embraces Comercio Justo can now enjoy the same high level of customer service.

We chose EMBRACES as our name by using letters from the names of our 3 children, Cassie, Brendan and Megan. Comercio Justo is Portuguese for Fair Trade. We chose the Portuguese translation as this is the official language of Mozambique, the home of our Sponsor Child, André.

Warren and I have always felt strongly about issues of poverty in developing countries. We have been sponsoring Andre in Mozambique through World Vision for many years and until very recently thought that was all we were financially able to do. Then we discovered fair trade.

Fair trade gives all of us the opportunity to buy ethically produced handmade items without the exploitation of the producers. It is giving economic justice to producers in the Developing World.

Simply put, fair trade gives producers a fair deal. Fair trade is helping disadvantaged and marginalised people work their way out of poverty. Fair trade ensures that the producers receive a fair wage. Fair trade supports the disadvantaged and most vulnerable producers in the Developing World. Fair trade ensures there is no abuse of child labour.
